Envirokonsult provide services in a multi-disciplinary field, which are structured into six divisions
and nine specialist programmes:
DIVISION 1: Environmental Management:
Compilation and reviewing of Scoping Reports, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s),
Environmental Management Programme Reports (EMPRs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP’s).
DIVISION 2: Environmental Monitoring:
Monitoring, evaluation, rehabilitation and auditing of the natural environment.
DIVISION 3: Aquatic Health Laboratory:
Chemical and biological analysis, effluent hazard assessment and toxicity testing.

Research programmes for governmental and private organisations and training in aquatic ecosystems.

Programme 1: |
Water Quality Monitoring:
Water Quality Network Design, Implementation and Operation. Services for large governmental
departments, local governments, catchment management agencies, the mining industry, etc.

Programme 2: |
Bio-monitoring of Aquatic Ecosystems:
All facets of biological monitoring, including macro invertebrate (SASS) assessments,
fish community assessments, fish health assessments, other aquatic fauna, aquatic flora,
riparian vegetation, etc.

Programme 3: |
Eutrophication Management:
Assessment of the degree of eutrophication (Trophic Status) experienced in lakes and reservoirs,
reservoir/resource management programmes, determination of most efficient in-lake water level
for abstraction, in-lake algal control measures, aquatic weed control, odour control, etc.

Programme 4: |
Dam Zonation and Sustainable Utilisation Plans:
Compilation of sustainable access, utilisation and development plans for
large and small impoundments, reservoirs and state dams according to the principles of
the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998).

Programme 5: |
Urban Impoundment Management:
Our "Clean Lakes Programmes" includes System Analysis, Aquatic Weed Control (algae and
macrophytes), Design and Construction of Bio-filter Systems, Turbidity control, introduction of
Fish species, Aquatic Plants, etc.

Programme 6: |
Integrated Aquatic Weed Management Programmes (IAWMPs):
Design, implementation and operation of IAWMPs. From large catchment orientated, to
smaller site-specific programmes. This service retains the application and integration
of chemical, biological, physical and mechanical control procedures.

Programme 7: |
Irrigation Canal Dosing Programmes:
Chemical, mechanical, physical and biological control of aquatic weeds and algae in
irrigation canal systems. Design, implementation and operation of water quality monitoring
programmes as well as water quality analysis, to conform to water Conservation and Demand
Management (WC/DM) specifications.

Programme 8: |
Environmental Disaster Management:
Investigations into Fish Kills and Spill Effect Evaluation, as well as the management
of clean-up procedures and rehabilitation and mitigation of affected areas.

Programme 9: |
Mine Water Management:
Water licensing applications. Environmental monitoring Programmes for the Mining Industry
[Water quality monitoring in water course, rivers, effluent, storm water; ground water,
bio-monitoring (SASS) and toxicity tests, Fish Health Assessment Index (FHAI),
Fish Community Integrity Index (FCII), etc.]. Rehabilitation and mitigation of
affected areas with cognisance of all facets of the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998),
National Environmental Management Act (Act 107 of 1998), Minerals Act (Act 50 of 1991),
and other relevant legislation.
